This class is designed for the individual looking for a new way to have fun with their dog, as well as an introduction to the handler/dog team considering competing in Rally Obedience in the future. This class will focus on teaching the foundational skills needed to do the signs on a Rally Course and provide a steppingstone for Rally Obedience Novice. All work will be performed on leash, so please arrive with fitted flat buckle collar and 4-6 ft. leash. Owners, please bring plenty of small, soft treats for use in class. Let's Get Ready to Rally!
Prerequisite: Beginner Obedience
Cost: $90
Minimum Age: 1 year
Duration: 6 weeks (1 class/week)
This class will be incorporated into the Tricks and CGC classes. AKC Rally is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course that has been designed by the rally judge. The judge tells the handler to begin, and the dog and handler proceed at a brisk pace through a course of designated stations (10 – 20, depending on the level). Each station has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. The dog and handler move continuously at a brisk but normal pace with the dog under control at the handler’s left side. AKC Rally trials demonstrate the dog has fun trained to behave in the home, in the presence of other dogs, in public at all times. There are 2 beginner Rally classes, Novice and Intermediate. These classes are performed on leash.
